For those who are interested in reading some more about energy work and spiritual development, I have put together a list of books and resources. Happy Reading!
For those interested in becoming a Reiki practitioner or just taking Reiki 1 to self heal, titles by William Lee Rand and Penelope Quest are a good resource. They focus on Western Reiki. In case you think you can become a Reiki practitioner just by reading the books, I'm afraid not! You need to be attuned by a Reiki Master trained to give attunements. If you are interested in pursuing this path, you can find more information on the UK Reiki Federation website. You will be drawn (guided) to a particular type of Reiki and Reiki Master. A Reiki 1 course is open to anyone wanting to learn to treat themselves and their family and friends - although you won't learn some of the more advanced and powerful Reiki techniques until you do further training.
If you are interested in spiritual healing (which is a different energy to Reiki), there are many amazing and interesting books and resources that span the centuries! Authors such as Barbara Brennan, CW Leadbeater and Joe Dispenza explain the energy centres beautifully and Joe Dispenza has some interesting, novel and thought provoking online materials about the way our bodies and consciousness integrate (e.g. his work on the pineal gland).
The CWG (Conversations with God) series by Neale Donald Walsh is a wonderful read that helps answer the tricky questions everyone has about healing and spiritual matters and I really felt it helped me start to be more open to recognising guidance but you must approach it with an open mind. I recommend the hard copy not the audio.
A Course in Miracles is unparalleled if you are practising energy work as a career but is best approached after some other spiritual reading first to help you understand it. It has 365 lessons one for each day of the year which need to be digested carefully so is a training tool rather than a quick read.
Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda is one of the most beautiful, funny and touching books I have ever read and really takes you to the mountains and cities of India. It would be a great read for anyone - not just energy workers.
Louisa Hay's You Can Heal Your Life is a great self help book with exercises to try and also contains some thought processes to use to help you heal certain conditions. (Caroline Myss's Anatomy of the Spirit contains these too). Evette Rose's Metaphysical Anatomy is one more for the working practitioner but is also excellent.
Jo Bowlby's A Book for Life is a must read for everyone as it summarises a lot of different spiritual faiths and gives you practices to help you grow. Shamans like Jo work with earth energies and have wonderful insight and understanding from Mother Earth. She started me on my path.
